This is a great school that prepares students for college and careers by engaging them in learning. As a former student, I can say that I would not send my children anywhere else!

If this were not a great school staffed by teachers who truly care about kids, we wouldn't have the number of visitors from other school districts coming from distant places to see what we're doing right. One walk through the halls reveals the positive learning environment. Hall bulletin boards display student work outside almost every classroom. Peek through the window in any classroom door and you'll see students engaged in meaningful learning activities. Curriculum is Common Core and very challenging, and extra help is provided for students who need it. Parents are interested and involved. You can't do better than to send your child to a school like BVMS where building caring relationships with students and their parents is such a vital part of what we do. Come see us!

BVMS is the premier middle school in South Mississippi. Strong in all areas: academics, athletics, and the arts. The middle school years are often difficult for children. The caring staff at Bayou View Middle creates an atmosphere that make kids love coming to school each day.

My child has attend this school for the past 2 years and we LOVE it! The best staff and faculty! We actually live in another district but will do whatever it takes to keep her in the Gulfport School District!

It is a great to be a part of a school distict where our teachers are dedicated to improving the lives of their students everyday in education, the arts, sports, and many extra currucular activities. As a part of the finance/personnel department it is my pleasure to support every faculty and staff member as they work tirelessly to educate our students.

My son attended Bayou View Middle School after I took him from the Biloxi School System to come over here to school because I felt his needs were not being met. My son is dyslexic and AD/HD, and the Biloxi School System was so rigid in the programing they offered and the way they handled his issues in the classroom, I felt he would have his needs met better in the GSD. He has gone on in his educational career and been quite successful, and I feel that this is due in great part to GSD and the great teachers beginning in the middle school. The teachers at this school are top drawer; you can't find any better!

The cafeteria staff at Bayou View Middle School work together, get along great, make sure everything is clean and meet the needs of the USDA regulations!

Only being here a year, I am very please with the school district. It's a nice enviroment to work in! Wonderful Staff and supervisor in the child nutrition program!

The Child Nutrition Department has delicious and appealing food, that makes the children wanting to come back for more!

The Gulfport schools have been blazing the trail for the state of MS by being the only school district in the state to fully implement the Common Core State Standards on behalf of the state department of ed. The teachers have received statewide and local notoriety for their efforts. Two members of the instructional department were selected to serve on the state's national PARCC team. Our district is progressive; for example, all 9th-10th grade students have been provided en e-reader to lighten the load of the book bags. Other technological advances are being made available to our teachers, students, and principals. All core classes have interactive whiteboards. We have redesigned our high school to give students career-based opportunities and early college experience during their junior and senior years. The arts are important to developing a well-rounded student. Our music programs (band, choir, and strings) are among the best in the country and world! How do I know? We continue to win sweepstakes awards each year and have been invited to Disney and Germany to showcase our talents! Athletics? We are the home of state champions in soccer, basketball, and weight lifting. Our Marine ROTC teaches leadership and continues to win state and regional competitions as well. We hold ourselves and our students to high levels of excellence. Gulfport is a great education destination!

SN: Those of us who work for the district may bring our children with us if we live out of district. I'm proud to say, we chose GSD. Best decision we could have made. My children's feeder pattern: West-Gulfport Central Middle-Gulfport High led my sons to honors programs and academic scholarships. This school is no exception! High standards coupled with hard work leads to a successful child.

The intervention and counseling staff is amazing at BVMS!!! They truly individualize for the needs of each child and help to give that extra support to those students requiring more than just classroom instruction.

Gulfport High School is an excellent school. They have the most pleasant teachers and staff. The teachers and staff are always pushing students to give 110% at ALL times. There are a wide variety of technical programs to help each & every one of the students there.

My daughter attends Bayou View Middle School and loves it! BVMS challenges her while maintaining a caring and compassionate atmosphere. The lessons and projects that she is assigned, offer a wide range of learning styles and are preparing her to become a lifelong problem solver

In 2011, the Mississippi Department of Education selected the Gulfport School District as one of three school districts to participate in a pilot program called Excellence for All. As part of this program, selected school districts were given the opportunity to develop innovative programs for their students that would prepare them to compete on a national and global setting in the core subjects as well as improve students' career and college readiness.
