Biggersville High School

Summary:

Biggersville High School is a public high school in Corinth, Mississippi, serving grades 7-12 with a total enrollment of 252 students. The school is part of the Alcorn School District, which is ranked 34 out of 130 school districts in the state and rated 4 stars out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

Biggersville High School stands out for its strong performance in 7th and 8th grade Mathematics, where its proficiency rates significantly exceed the district and state averages. However, the school's overall statewide ranking has been declining in recent years, suggesting it may be struggling to keep pace with other high-performing schools. Compared to nearby schools like Alcorn Central High School and Kossuth High School, Biggersville High School's performance is generally lower, with inconsistent results on End-of-Course exams.

One notable challenge for Biggersville High School is its extremely high percentage of students (over 98%) receiving free or reduced-price lunch, indicating a high level of economic disadvantage among the student population. This may impact the school's academic performance and other aspects of its operations. Despite these challenges, Biggersville High School's small student-teacher ratio, ranging from 10.4 to 11.8 over the past three years, suggests a more personalized learning environment for its students.

Open Quote biggerville is a small school but has a great falculty that is willing to spend a lot of 1 on 1 time with each and eveery student. the sports programs are great for every child that wants to play. due to the schools small attendance it allows whomever wants to play a sport to actually participate instead of hoping to make the team. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
