Green Tree Elementary

Summary:

Green Tree Elementary is a public elementary school located in Lake St. Louis, Missouri, serving 616 students in grades K-5. The school is part of the Wentzville R-IV School District, which is ranked 37th out of 376 districts in Missouri and has a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Green Tree Elementary stands out for its consistently high academic performance, with the school consistently ranking among the top elementary schools in Missouri over the past 10 years. The school's students, including those with disabilities and African American students, have consistently outperformed their peers on the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests, particularly in Mathematics and English Language Arts. Compared to nearby schools in the Ft. Zumwalt R-II and Wentzville R-IV districts, Green Tree Elementary has a more diverse student population, with a higher percentage of African American students than the surrounding schools. Despite this diversity, the school maintains a lower percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch (19.64%) compared to the nearby schools, which range from 2.95% to 23.27%.

One of the most interesting aspects of Green Tree Elementary is its efficient resource allocation. The school spends less per student ($11,241 in 2021-2022) than the surrounding schools, which range from $11,494 to $14,780 per student, yet it consistently outperforms these schools academically. This suggests that the school may have effective strategies in place for maximizing the impact of its funding and resources, making it a standout example of a high-performing and cost-effective public elementary school.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Green Tree has SOME fantastic teachers. The constant changing of Asst Principals is concerning. The Administration doesn't always make themselves available like some of the other district's schools. If you have a child in Special Ed, watch out! I don't recommend this school. The Administration is always changing things up to the detriment of the students and teachers. Some of the teachers are not friendly. Some of them seem miserable. But with all of the constant flux of people going in and out of there, it's no wonder. The really good teachers seem to get their hands tied while the ones who should be watched more carefully have free reign. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
