Monroe Elementary

Summary:

Monroe Elementary is a public elementary school located in Saint Charles, Missouri, serving grades K-4 with a total enrollment of 388 students. It is part of the St. Charles R-VI school district, which is ranked 75 out of 386 districts in Missouri and is rated 4 stars out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

When compared to other elementary schools in the same district, Monroe Elementary stands out as having lower test scores, higher chronic absenteeism rates, and a higher percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. This suggests that the school may be serving a more economically disadvantaged population than some of the other schools in the district. Additionally, the school's performance for specific student subgroups, such as Hispanic students and low-socioeconomic status students, is also lower than the district and state averages, indicating that the school may need to focus on addressing the unique needs of these subgroups to improve their academic outcomes.

Despite the school district's increased spending per student at Monroe Elementary, from $13,735 in 2019-2020 to $15,911 in 2021-2022, the academic performance has not shown a corresponding improvement. The high chronic absenteeism rates and the higher percentage of economically disadvantaged students at the school may be contributing factors to the lower academic performance, and the school may need to implement targeted interventions and support systems to address these challenges and improve student outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote At Monroe you can really tell the teachers care about their children. The hallways are lined with student work providing a warm feeling. They have a thing called families where each child belongs to a smaller group of kids. They all have town hall meetings and trimester awards assemblies that recognize children for their efforts. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
