Summary:

Wild Horse Elementary is a public elementary school located in Chesterfield, Missouri, serving 492 students in grades K-5. The school is part of the highly-ranked Rockwood R-VI School District, which is ranked 22nd out of 386 districts in the state and has a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Wild Horse Elementary has consistently been one of the top-performing elementary schools in Missouri, ranking within the top 50 schools in the state for the past several years. The school has maintained a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger, indicating its exceptional academic performance and overall quality. Its students consistently outperform the district and state averages in standardized tests, with particularly strong results in Mathematics and Science. For example, in the 2023-2024 school year, the school's 3rd-grade Mathematics proficiency rate was 66.5%, compared to 54.3% for the district and 40.8% for the state.

While Wild Horse Elementary excels in the performance of Asian and English Language Learner (ELL) students, the school's lower rankings for Hispanic and low socioeconomic status students suggest the need for targeted interventions and support to address these achievement gaps. Additionally, the school's chronic absenteeism rate, which has fluctuated between 14.2% and 22.3% in recent years, warrants further investigation and improvement. When compared to other highly-ranked elementary schools in the area, such as Highcroft Ridge Elementary and Chesterfield Elementary, Wild Horse Elementary maintains its position as a top-performing school in the region.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The school has a warm air around. Every staff in the school is super helpful. The concern they display to ensure that every student becomes his best is phenomenal. The principal and vice-principal are very approachable and so is every staff member.

The special ed teachers go several extra miles to make sure the student makes progress. I am extremely happy that my son is studying here. We feel blessed. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
