Owensville Middle

Summary:

Owensville Middle School is a public middle school in Owensville, Missouri, serving 417 students in grades 6-8. The school is part of the Gasconade County R-II School District, which is ranked 226 out of 376 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Owensville Middle has a predominantly white student population, with 94.96% of students identifying as white. Academically, the school's performance is mixed, with proficiency rates in math below the state average across all grade levels, while English Language Arts (ELA) proficiency is more varied, with 6th grade above the state average but 7th and 8th grades below. In science, Owensville Middle's 8th-grade proficiency rate is lower than the state average. However, the school's students from low socioeconomic backgrounds perform exceptionally well, ranking 42 out of 382 Missouri middle schools, while its gifted and talented students have historically performed very well, ranking 1 out of 121 Missouri middle schools in the 2018-2019 school year.

Compared to nearby schools like Sullivan Middle and Bourbon Middle School, Owensville Middle spends less per student but has a higher student-to-teacher ratio. This suggests a need to examine the school's resource allocation and staffing levels to ensure students are receiving the necessary support and attention. Additionally, the school's lack of racial diversity may impact its ability to prepare students for the realities of an increasingly diverse society, and the inconsistency in academic performance indicates a need for a more comprehensive and targeted approach to curriculum and instruction.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote you want your child to be in a school with a bunch of children raised by hillbillies that were not taught manners or respect or how to act in public. Then this is the place for you. If you want to have your children in a school where the administration fails the children on an everyday basis and refuses to acknowledge the obvious issues that the school has in regards to bullying and lack of discipline. Then this is definitely the right place for you. But if you have a child that enjoys school and is respectful and gets good grades and loves being in class and just wants to go to school get an education and make good friends? Then send your kid someplace else. Because otherwise you will get text messages on a daily basis from your child crying in a bathroom or yelling about how she hates School because the teachers refuse to do their job and to punish people that are abusing other children. And after 4 months of dealing with the same children hitting her kicking her pushing her Etc she finally stood up for herself and jabbed one of them and she got into trouble. I do not condone violence or hitting in any way. But I know for a fact my daughter has done the right thing and told the teachers about the bullying and about the harassment and not one of those children has ever had detention or been kicked out of school. Because the principal is a failure at her job and refuses to discipline or acknowledge that she is allowing this Behavior. So my child at 12 years old had to stand up and defend herself because of their failures and then she gets in trouble for it. I took my daughter out for ice cream took her clothes shopping and we're going to see a movie today in reward for her standing up for herself. Because while I teach my child to have respect for her teachers and she has always been bragged about by her teachers. I will not send my daughter the wrong message that she is a bad kid or that she is in the wrong because she stood up for herself. Your Administration needs to be fired. They are failing the children and this has been a known issue in this trashy School for years. Shame on you! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
