As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I went here for 2 years as a child in 4th & 5th grade. My 5th grade teacher consistently singled me out as a "bad" kid when I'd done nothing wrong, humiliating me in front of my classmates, abusing me and hurting me both emotionally and physically. When I was ill she wouldn't let me go to the nurse or call home simply because she thought I was faking (what kid can fake a fever & vomiting?). She even had me evaluated for a learning disability without my parents' consent or knowledge and tried to say that all my falling grades were my fault, that I had a learning disability, behavioral issues & that it wasn't her fault or responsibility. I was failing & yet they were going to pass me on to the next grade anyway. I consistently asked for help with school work from my teachers (we had different teachers for math & science) and was never given it, I was even told by one other teacher to "go ask my neighbor" (meaning another student) when I didn't understand long division and was struggling. And what was she doing? Sitting at her desk, reading. My mother immediately took me out of this school and put me in a preparatory school. I went on the following year to become an A/B student. All it took was one teacher caring about me, my education & my future. I am now a college graduate & successful business owner. Though I am sure that teacher is long gone, it was also the principal & school that failed me. If you care about your children, don't send them to Westview. They have the least funding out of all the LS schools in the district, "because it's where all the section 8 kids go", even though we lived in a neighborhood that is like a notch cut out of the boundary for the better school. We are now living in this same area where my child would attend the same school. He will either transfer to another school within the district (based upon approval) or we will be sending him to a private school. No way will I send my children to Westview. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
