Pheasant Point Elementary

Summary:

Pheasant Point Elementary is a public elementary school located in O'Fallon, Missouri, serving grades K-5 with a student population of 436. The school is part of the Fort Zumwalt School District, which is ranked 34th out of 386 districts in Missouri and has a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Pheasant Point Elementary consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in Missouri, with a statewide ranking between 62nd and 225th out of over 900 schools in recent years. The school's students perform significantly better than the district and state averages on the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests in Mathematics, Science, and English Language Arts across all grade levels. For example, in 2023-2024, Pheasant Point's 4th-grade students scored 66.1% proficient or better in Mathematics, compared to 54.6% for the district and 44.4% for the state. The school also has a high-performing subgroup of English Language Learner (ELL) students, ranking 2nd out of 54 Missouri elementary schools in this category for the 2023-2024 school year.

Pheasant Point Elementary consistently outperforms the other elementary schools in the Fort Zumwalt School District, as well as several nearby schools in the Wentzville and Francis Howell districts, on academic measures. However, the school has experienced a relatively high rate of chronic absenteeism, ranging from 17.3% to 20.0% in recent years, which is higher than the state average. This is an area of concern that the school may want to address, as chronic absenteeism can negatively impact student learning and academic achievement.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Love Love Love this school. The principals, teacher and staff are all so wonderfully positive and encouraging. The children are all known by name. This school has that family atmosphere. The 3 star rating given by this website is nowhere indicative of how wonderful my daughter's experience has been at this school. Highly Recommend! Close Quote

Open Quote Dr. Cicotte is wonderful! Almost all of the teachers care about these kids. I love the school and the teachers my children have had. I wish we could stay with Dr. Cicotte all the way through til they graduate, but after 5th grade we're onto middle school. If you are moving to the O Fallon area, please consider Pheasant Point for a pretty dang great school. I highly recommend this school for lots and lots of reasons. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
