Open Quote We are so grateful for this school. Our children LOVE to go to school everyday and wish there wasn't weekends or days off of school, especially summer. Our family enjoys the small, but growing tight-knit community, as we believe it takes an army to raise children. I love that our children are interested in always learning. When they don't know something they have the independence and desire to research to continue to grow. My husband and I feel very strongly come from the Montessori Environment. I really love that they can talk about their relationship with God and continue to seek the wonder and awe of God from a young age. I would strongly recommend if you feel called to schedule a time and to see for yourself if this school is a good fit for your family. I could go on and on about why we love this school. Open Quote St Johns School has so many things that I want for my children. Montessori method, safe and secure, friendly and approachable staff. I’ve witnessed my children flourish more than I ever imagined. There’s not a day that my kids don’t want to go! This is a dream come true. The community is priceless and the lake front views are just an added blessing. Close Quote

Open Quote This is such a special school! I was driving my son 45 minutes one way to a Catholic Montessori for two years so I was overjoyed when St John the Baptist Catholic Montessori opened in Excelsior. It is so much closer and my son has been loving it! He is sad on the weekends because he wants to go to school.
The Guides and staff are so well prepared/educated, available and caring. I know I can talk to them about any concerns. I really love Montessori and this is Montessori done right. And it is genuinely Catholic to boot! My son has learned so much socially and emotionally as well as academically. Montessori really addresses the whole child, not just academics. And at the same time he can learn at his own pace and he gets lots of individualized attention which has really helped him to advance academically.
I was so excited this school opened up just when we needed it and it goes from Toddler through 8th grade which is really wonderful because the Guides really have time to develop relationships with the children and the children with each other. I am so blessed to have found this unique school, my son couldn't be happier : ) Close Quote

Open Quote I am a staff member of the school, so I may represent a little different point of view. SJB has a strong curriculum and a sense of community that ranks at the top. Students are open and accepting of each other, and the staff is there to help and support their learning. It seems to be a well kept secret, perhaps too well kept! Close Quote

Open Quote St. John's provides an excellent, child centered education in a small, caring environment. We had moved three times in two years and were looking for a school that our children could enter and feel at home right away. THis is the place! Within a year, they have become part of the community, made great strides in the classroom and forged great friendships. I would recommend this school to anyone. Close Quote

Open Quote St. John's School has such a great environment which leads to students feeling comfortable and able to learn. Their score results are above all the public schools in the area. The teachers are amazing and probably the best part of St. John's. One can't beat the curriculum, small class sizes, and sense of community. The kids feel a part of a great group of individuals. The pre-k all the way through 8th grade know each other. The older kids mentor the younger. All-in-all, we couldn't wish for a better school!!!! Close Quote

Open Quote The environment at St Johns is warm and caring. The teachers are outstanding with the way they teach each individual child. They are committed to each child's success. Many hold masters degrees. The school's NWEA test scores top the public schools in the area. Smart or Star boards are in every class room and the kids know how to use them. The Audio enhancing system which my 3rd grader uses for the book reports has given her confidence in public speaking. The middle school has a one to one laptop program. I could go on and on about the school, but most importantly are the successful results. My oldest graduated from here and is currently doing very well in her advanced high school classes due to the firm foundation she obtained from St Johns. I highly recommend this school to all who want the best education for their children. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
