Plymouth Creek Elementary

Summary:

Plymouth Creek Elementary is a highly-rated public elementary school in Plymouth, Minnesota, serving approximately 584 students in grades K-5. This school consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in the state, thanks to its strong academic performance, diverse student population, and low student-teacher ratio.

Plymouth Creek Elementary outperforms both the Wayzata Public School District and the state of Minnesota in proficiency rates on the MCA-III assessments for Math, Reading, and Science. In the 2023-2024 school year, 80.35% of all students were proficient or better in Math, compared to 75.37% for the Wayzata district and 45.47% for the state. The school also ranks among the top in Minnesota for the performance of specific student groups, such as Asian, African American, Hispanic, English Language Learners, and Special Education students.

While Plymouth Creek Elementary consistently outperforms its peers, there are some nearby schools within the Wayzata Public School District, such as Kimberly Lane Elementary, Meadow Ridge Elementary School, and North Woods Elementary School, that also demonstrate strong academic performance. However, when compared to schools outside the Wayzata district, such as FAIR School Pilgrim Lane and Zachary Lane Elementary in the Robbinsdale Public School District, the performance gap becomes more pronounced, with these schools scoring well below the state averages in Math, Reading, and Science.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is very racist. Beware if you are African American they will call child protection on you and never contact the parents first for anything! The Principall takes up for her white teachers. My kids were only there for 2 weeks before they called child protection and the superintendent is racist as well. He never followed up with me when the same teacher modified my daughters work., saying her test is different from others and she is a regular education student never had an IEP. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
