Parkview Elementary School

Summary:

Parkview Elementary School is a public elementary school in Novi, Michigan, serving students from kindergarten to 4th grade as part of the highly-ranked Novi Community School District. With a diverse student population and a significant Asian student representation, Parkview consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in the state for its exceptional academic performance.

Parkview Elementary stands out for its consistently high proficiency rates on the M-Step assessments, significantly exceeding state averages in both English Language Arts and Math. The school also has an outstanding track record in supporting its English Language Learner (ELL) students, ranking among the top 4-7 elementary schools in Michigan for this subgroup. While Parkview has seen an increase in chronic absenteeism rates in recent years, its rates remain lower than the nearby Novi Community School District average. The school's high spending per student, at $14,935 in 2022-2023, likely contributes to its strong academic outcomes.

Compared to other elementary schools in the Novi district, Parkview consistently outperforms its peers, including Village Oaks, Deerfield, Orchard Hills, and Novi Woods. However, when compared to the elite elementary schools in the neighboring Northville Public Schools district, such as Amerman and Moraine, Parkview lags behind in statewide rankings.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Pricipal is extremely rude!!! Third grade teachers are the worst. If u address that to principal she turns the table n puts the blame on the parents itself. If any asian parents asks a question the principal answers to them in a extremely rude and sarcastic manner. Discrimination to the core by principal. Once an asian kid went to hug a third grade teacher. She abruptly said stop, no. Immediately an white kid came and hugged and she was talking so sweet with that kid. Just an example of how rude and discriminative the teachers are. The principal and teachers need to be changed. Period!! Close Quote

Open Quote Very rude teachers and more importance is given to stars who act in movies rather than a kid who wins a science or math competition. Principal and teachers are very irresponsible. They don’t want to discuss abt bullying if the kids are of different race. The teachers and the principal exactly doesn’t know what is going on in the school. Hell a lot of discrimination is going on among teachers and students and the administration shows a deaf ear to it. Hate this school. I don’t want to give even 1 star Close Quote

Open Quote The teachers at Parkview are good. And you can say the principal seems very dynamic. But you would have a hard time understanding the school policy on bullying and hitting at Parkview. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
