Fox Elementary has a unique student demographic, with a higher percentage of White students (69.61%) compared to the state average, and lower percentages of African American (13.76%) and Hispanic (8.21%) students. The school has seen a significant increase in chronic absenteeism, rising from 9.6% in 2018-2019 to 26.0% in 2022-2023, which is higher than the district and state averages. Academically, Fox Elementary's test scores are mixed, outperforming the state in some areas but underperforming in others. Compared to other nearby schools in the Chippewa Valley Schools district, Fox Elementary has lower test scores in most subjects and grade levels. However, it outperforms some nearby schools in the Utica Community Schools district, such as Graebner Elementary and Havel Elementary. Despite the higher spending per student at Fox Elementary, their overall academic performance is mixed, suggesting that factors beyond just funding may be impacting student outcomes. Addressing the school's chronic absenteeism issues could be an important area of focus to improve student success.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote These test scores do not show what a caring, committed, and engaged staff Fox has. It is called the Fox Family because they make you and your children feel like family. The teachers are continually going above and beyond for students, especially the neediest. The principal has an open door policy if you have any issues. Don't judge a school by the graphs you see here. This is a very diverse school that works together to meet family needs. It is also extremely clean and friendly with murals throughout. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
