Open Quote Our daughter graduated from Elkton HS and we now also have another child in 10th grade. Our kids have had a very good experience there. There are lots of good kids in this school and many high achieving students. Our daughter graduated in the top 10% of the senior class and had a number of academic scholarship offers, including and $10,000 annual scholarship from a 4 year institution. The top kids in her class were granted admission to good universities and with generous scholarship offers. The faculty is very well qualified with Masters and some doctorates. They do a good job. They communicate very well with the parents. The academic environment is not super rigorous. The posture of the faculty is to support the kids and give them every opportunity to learn and get good grades. The homework load light to moderate. The athletic programs are very good. Our kids, average to above average athletes, and have been able to make the teams and also get on the field. Athletics at Elkton have added a lot to their high school experience. The coaching is good. We appreciate the good work of the faculty and staff at Elkton H.S. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
