As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote We might not have the highest scores but we do have a bond that can't be broken we are all smart and full of potential. We treat each other like family no matter what you see or hear if you spend a day at Leith Walk you will be shocked at how dramatic all those comments were. Close Quote

Open Quote My daughter missed the entire week of March 18th due to the flu. I know It is not required but to a child it would have been nice if any of her teachers had called to see if everything was ok. I’m questioning if they even noticed because I did not even get one absent phone call the entire week in which the calls usually come at 6:30pm. I did in fact get a call today 3/25/19 at 6:33pm alerting me that my daughter wasn’t in school when she was! I don’t know what kind of screwed up system that is but it needs to be fixed. I asked my child if her teacher, Ms. Long, even asked her where she has been or even express concern that she had been absent and she told me that “No one said anything about it.” It makes me angry as a parent that teachers don’t give a care about their students anymore. I have also been trying to get an IEP for my son since Sept. He has a 504 plan which does nothing to help. He has focus issues and I have asked almost each one of his teachers to inquire about the status of the IEP and I have also called multiple time to find out and every time I was transferred to a voicemail box that was not set up. This is ridiculous!!! It will be well into summer when maybe we will get a meeting. I am Very DISPLEASED with Leith Elementary. I attended Leith Walk and it’s definitely not the same. Maybe new staff should be on the agenda!! Close Quote

Open Quote The state needs to take over this school. It was once a top school in Baltimore. It was a hidden gem. There is no discipline or accountability for unruly students. As a parent I have noticed all the good teachers leave, why, because they can't teach. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
