As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I was a student at Madison Middle from 2004-2007. I keep reading all of these negative reviews written by people who are worried about their kids being in danger, not being treated with enough attention/respect, etc etc. Just so you folks know, I learned how to function in the REAL WORLD because of my experience at MMS. I learned what I needed to learn in terms of math, science, and other subjects because I actively applied myself (thanks mom and dad for staying on my ass about education), but more importantly I learned life skills. When you step into this school you are immediately exposed to kids from every background - white, black, latino, rich, poor, gay, straight, muslim, christian... the list goes on and on. You learn to communicate with and understand people from all walks of life. I CANNOT STRESS HOW IMPORTANT THIS SKILL IS - AND YES, IT IS A LEARNED SKILL THROUGH EXPERIENCE. I will be upfront and honest in that before I went to MMS, the only time I had ever been able to befriend someone of a race other than my own was in day care at the age of 4 or in city league sports in Richmond. They were my best friends from day one...so going to an elementary school with all white kids made me question why this was the case... it is definitely true that poverty and race are connected, all due to the vast inequities in place during the civil rights era... and that is why all of my best friends were funneled into one school in one district. It is absolute bullshit. Thank God my parents did not send me to a private school to be surrounded by other spoiled white kids like myself. Besides, the drug problem in private schools (especially Richmond and Lexington) far exceeds that of the public schools because of access to money. With that being said I would like to address all PARENTS reading this: GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR WHITE ASS and allow your kids to mesh. Otherwise, they will be socially biased assholes the rest of their lives and pass on the stigma that they are better than others who don't look like them or have the things they have. Lastly, I am a business owner and multi-millionaire. I credit my success in the real world to my exposure to the real world, not just the education I gained through classwork. The most successful people in my company are the ones that I grew up with from the poorest of backgrounds. Please wake up! Send your kids to the most diverse environment possible even if it is not MMS! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
