As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My daughter is about to finish her second year at Farmer and we have been very pleased with her progress. Her reading skills are well ahead of expectations and her math is on track. She loves the school and we appreciate the disciplined, safe environment. I truly wish Farmer went through middle school but unfortunately only goes through fifth grade. Close Quote

Open Quote This school has excellent teachers sprinkled throughout . The 5th grade team is excellent and really steps up the level of learning and prep skills ( exchanging classes, self motivation and independence, responsibility) for middle school. In JCPS, one would think if the school was not a magnet then all others schools would have similar curriculum but this is not the case which leads me to the principal leadership. The principal leadership is average at best. Her choice for the whole language philosophy for seven years has caused poor results in reading, language arts and spelling. I have had to work with my children outside of class and I'm thankful for my child's middle school that has worked to reeducate these skills and bring them to grade level. Mathematics on the other hand is a strength of this school has been a primary focus. The socioeconomic/ demographic status as well as a high parental involvement probably contribute to the decent test scores while I have not seen a substantial growth in scores from the curriculum. A new reading program is now being introduced to K-3 to change this trend. While I mentioned a high parental involvement in the school, siblings are not allowed to come to school or participate in any event. Close Quote

Open Quote Some excellent teachers here, some castoffs from other schools and some young, inexperienced teachers. You can tell the difference. Terrible principal leadership, concerned more with image & keeping kids out who don't fit that image. ECE services in lower grades seem good but in upper grades inadequate. Special needs parents should look elsewhere & all parents should beware as once your child is in middle school you'll find out how little they actually know. Kentucky schools are far behind academically on a national scale & this school seems further behind than most. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
