The school is part of the Jefferson County School District, which is ranked 141 out of 159 districts in the state and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Auburndale Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Kentucky elementary schools, with a ranking of 655 out of 685 schools for the 2023-2024 school year and a 0-star rating from SchoolDigger. For example, Kenwood Elementary, located just 1.14 miles away, consistently outperforms Auburndale in academic measures, with higher proficiency rates in mathematics, reading, and other subject areas. Auburndale Elementary's high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 70.92% to 80.27%, suggests that the school serves a population with significant economic challenges, which likely contributes to the academic struggles observed at the school.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is a wonderful school for the students and their family. We transferred here after problems in our neighborhood school. My son and my family have been made to feel very welcomed by the Principal and the staff. The school is super clean and the outside is well maintained. So many activities for the kids and the entire family. The Teachers are wonderful, with great care taken for those students who need extra help and for those who are above and beyond their grade level. The Teachers and the staff take part in many of the activities and the PTA IS AWESOME. I wish we would of started my son in this school for Kindergarten. I am looking forward to his remaining 4 years here. I like the system of discipline and rewards, with the rewards being a group effort. My son and my family are as happy as we can be. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
