Summary:

Grant County High School is a public high school located in Dry Ridge, Kentucky, serving 1,078 students in grades 9-12. The school is part of the Grant County School District, which is ranked 143 out of 159 districts in the state and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Academically, Grant County High School has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Kentucky high schools, with a ranking between 115 and 235 out of 290 schools over the past 10 years. Its performance on state assessments, such as the ACT and Kentucky State Assessments (KSA), is generally below the state averages, particularly in mathematics and reading. The school's performance varies significantly across different student subgroups, with Hispanic students and students with special needs performing relatively well compared to their peers statewide, while White students, male students, and students from low socioeconomic backgrounds struggle, ranking in the bottom quarter of Kentucky high schools in these categories.

Despite these academic challenges, Grant County High School has a relatively strong four-year graduation rate of 91.4%, which is slightly below the state average. When compared to nearby high schools, such as Simon Kenton High School (Kenton County), Larry A. Ryle High School (Boone County), and Walton-Verona High School (Walton-Verona Independent), Grant County High School generally underperforms on various academic measures and has a lower overall ranking. The school's location in a relatively rural and economically disadvantaged area, as well as the Grant County School District's low overall ranking, may contribute to the challenges faced by the school.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The school district as a whole is a complete joke. The right hand doesn't even know the left exists let alone what it is doing. It is a chronic headache from the day school starts until the day summer break begins. My advice, send your kids to Williamstown Independent if at all possible. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
