Yates Elementary School consistently ranks in the bottom half of Kentucky elementary schools, with a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger for most of the past 10 years, indicating below-average academic performance. The school's performance varies significantly across different student subgroups, with Hispanic students performing relatively well, but African American and White students struggling. The school has a high percentage of students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds, with 71-84% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.

Nearby schools in the Fayette County district show a wide range of academic performance, with some schools like Ashland Elementary and Liberty Elementary performing well above the state and district averages, while others like Arlington Elementary, Deep Springs Elementary, and Northern Elementary struggle similarly to Yates Elementary. The two magnet schools in the area, George Washington Carver STEM Academy and Dixie Elementary Magnet School, demonstrate higher academic performance, suggesting that the magnet school model may be more effective in supporting student achievement.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote the teachers seem pretty nice but the school facilitor I do not like she is very rude and inconsiderate, and having a son with severe autism means I unfortunatly have to deal with her alot. With my personal experince during every IEP(so far) any questions or concerns you may have seem to annoy her like you are wasting her precious time. If you have a special needs child I would try to find another school just to avoid her, she also works for another Fayette county school as well unsure which one though. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
