As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school needs an extensive rehaul. I don't think this new principal completely understands what she got herself into. There are some extremely toxic teachers at this school who ruin it for the good ones. Families are moving left and right. Children of blue valley staff/faculty are used to bully students. Substitutes have been used to do the same as they are hired by their toxic teacher friends. Basic/typical student interactions are managed by counselors, social workers, speech therapists and psychologists. Its ridiculous. The PTO groups are always fighting with one another most likely because they are involved for themselves and not for students/teachers/education. Parents also feel the need to be overly involved for the safety of their children at the school. They (staff) rally their kids to harass families they don't approve of being in their schools so they are not held accountable. There are teachers who have been at the school since it opened who need to go through re-licensing. I don't recommend. Move elsewhere. Close Quote

Open Quote There are some really great teachers here as well as families willing to lend a helping hand, however, the bad ones ruin it for all. A lot of inaccuracies in testing, conflicts of interests in grading and teaching and the parent involvement seems to be over the top at times. Misinterpretations of map scores. Those that normally cause the most problems are the folks that are always volunteers, pto, subs, etc. In order for some teachers to do their job you have to either threaten to come to the school to see the learning environment or hire someone outside. Little or no conflict resolution. But overall a SUPERB school!!! But be careful with giving money to the PTO. Close Quote

Open Quote Sunset Ridge Elementary is a good school with active parent participation and volunteer opportunities. The staff all seem very caring and professional with the exception of one full day Kindergarten teacher who came to the school on probation from another school in the district. This teacher, Ms. Jolaine Palmer, is unfit to teach and many parents are enrolling their child in Harmony or Cedar Hills, nearby schools, for Kindergarten and switching back for 1st grade attempting to avoid this teacher. Unfortunately, the prinical, Sandra Wallace has done nothing to help the situation and the disrict is just starting to get involved. All in all a great school if your child is past Kindergarten. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
