The school's performance for Hispanic students and students with low socioeconomic status could be an area for improvement, as these subgroups tend to lag behind the overall student population in academic achievement. However, John Glenn High School's stable funding and resource allocation, ranging from $8,820 to $10,597 per student over the past four years, suggest a commitment to providing a quality education for all its students.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The John Glenn School Corporation is the sole reason we moved our family to Walkerton, Indiana in 1990 from urban South Bend. Since then, we have been so happy to have made that move.

Our three children have flourished in the small town environment and have participated in every aspect of scholastic life. The teachers and administrators care about the students. Most students are recognized by name, on sight. The overall effect is a respectful student body and a strong learning environment.

If you are a parent who pays attention, your child can get the equivalent of a top private school education in this small rural school district. By the way, housing is cheap!

A word of warning: Don't come expecting a high suburban lifestyle. It does not exist here. And, I should add, no one wants it. As former city dwellers, it took awhile to appreciate the slower pace. We call it Walkerton-time.

For the record, neither I nor anyone in my family works for the school corporation. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
