Greenville Elementary School

Summary:

Greenville Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Greenville, Illinois, serving grades PK-5 with a total enrollment of 531 students. The school is part of the Bond County CUSD 2 district, which is ranked 260 out of 813 districts in Illinois and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Academically, Greenville Elementary School's performance on the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics is generally below the state and district averages. However, the school's performance on the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) is stronger, with a 63% proficiency rate for all grades, exceeding the district's 55.9% and the state's 53.2%. Interestingly, the school's performance for students from low socioeconomic backgrounds is stronger than the overall school performance, indicating the school may be effectively supporting this population. On the other hand, the performance of students with disabilities is an area of concern, with the school ranking in the bottom 25% of Illinois elementary schools for this subgroup.

One notable challenge for Greenville Elementary School is the increasing chronic absenteeism rate, which has risen from 3.7% in the 2019-2020 school year to 11.9% in the 2023-2024 school year. This trend may be impacting the school's academic performance. Comparing to nearby schools, Pocahontas Center, which is also in the Bond County CUSD 2 district, outperforms Greenville Elementary School in both ELA and Mathematics, suggesting there may be opportunities for Greenville to learn from and collaborate with its counterparts to improve student outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote When school personnel assume family titles (such as mom, dad, grandpa, “grandma”, and so on), it may seem harmless. I overlooked the harm at first. After thought, I realized how dangerous it could be for some children!
When school personnel make the mistake of assuming family titles, they should have to abide by a remedy outlined in a district policy.
The remedy should encourage parents and educators alike to refresh and/or teach children for the first time stranger danger safety rules!
For example: Children should be taught to scream (This is not my daddy! This is not my mommy!) if they are ever grabbed by a stranger! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
