Summary:

Mountain View Elementary School is a public elementary school in Boise, Idaho, serving 312 students in grades PK-6 and part of the Boise Independent District.

Mountain View Elementary consistently outperforms the district and state in academic metrics, with 53.1% of students proficient or better in ISAT Math compared to 44.8% for the district and 42.2% for the state. The school's performance is particularly strong in 3rd and 4th grade ISAT Math, with 61% and 59% proficiency, respectively. While Mountain View Elementary has seen a decrease in chronic absenteeism rates, from 28.0% in 2021-2022 to 19.9% in 2022-2023, the school's rate is still higher than the nearby high-performing Collister Elementary (11.3%) and Summerwind STEM Academy (14.6%). Additionally, Mountain View's spending per student ($9,505 in 2018-2019) is lower than some of the nearby schools, suggesting the school could learn from the strategies employed by the high-performing schools to further improve student outcomes and better serve its diverse student population.

Open Quote My son was bullied none stop in 2008 at this school. I went to the principal MANY times!! I begged for my son to be moved to a different class. My son completely shut down, wouldn't even write his name on his paper, threw huge fits in the morning B4 school. The principal asked me to stop saying my son was "beat up" in one of the meetings we had. I said "Fine, I would please like my son to STOP being ASSAULTED!! My son was punched in the stomach, kicked, scratched, given countless wedgies, papers and books would be torn out of his backpack as well. It was such a nightmare!! I used my mothers address, to enroll him in a different school!! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
