Social Circle Elementary School

Summary:

Social Circle Elementary School is a public elementary school serving grades 3-5 in the Social Circle City District in Georgia, with 379 students and a 3-out-of-5-star rating from SchoolDigger.

The school's test scores are generally on par with or slightly below state averages in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science, and are very similar to the Social Circle City district as a whole. Compared to nearby schools, Social Circle Elementary outperforms lower-ranked schools like Middle Ridge Elementary and Porterdale Elementary, but underperforms higher-ranked schools like Newton County Theme School at Ficquett and Mansfield Elementary. The school's free/reduced lunch rate of around 45% is higher than the state average but lower than some nearby schools, which may contribute to its slightly lower test scores.

Over the past 10 years, Social Circle Elementary has maintained a relatively consistent performance, with a statewide ranking between 336 and 583 and a 3-star rating. While the school's performance is on par with district and state averages, there may be opportunities for improvement, especially in comparison to higher-performing nearby schools. Addressing the needs of the school's socioeconomically diverse student population could be a key focus area, and analyzing how resources are allocated could provide valuable insights for the school's leadership.

Qualified & dedicated teachers/staff, Spanish for all grades, STEAM, top-rate computer labs in addition to laptops in the classroom, community service, a strong PTO and more. The school leadership leads visibly and is always stretching towards growth. All students are supported - no matter the need or strength. There is a strong sense of school community that is felt each day, Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
