Open Quote I am not impressed with this school at all. The curriculum is all over the place instead of a structured setup that builds upon previous lessons. One day they'll study economics, the next day they'll study one of 5 different ways to do simple adding and subtracting, etc.

When my daughter got a severe illness and had to miss 2 weeks in a row, the teacher was upset and grumpy that she had missed so much school - but couldn't even tell me what they were studying in class, or provide a copy of any assignments that my daughter could try to make up at home. When pressed for details on what's being taught, the teachers don't seem to know what's going on. My child's math teacher sent out an email to parents that she "didn't believe in homework"... then, literally less than 2 weeks later, sent out another email that she changed her mind and students will now have daily homework. It genuinely seems like the teachers are just making things up as they go.

I am astonished at how sharply Gwinnett County's schooling integrity and quality has fallen. It was definitely not like this when I went to GCPS schools years ago. I'd also like to know what in the world the school is doing with their local tax dollars, because they keep trying to fundraise by having kids pay a dollar to wear a hat to school, asking parents to donate things like Kleenex, pencils, etc. They put a huge emphasis on teaching kids the importance of nutrition, then repeatedly serve nachos, pizza, hot dogs, etc.

Honestly, this school is a complete mess. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
