Lovin Elementary consistently performs above the state average in the Milestones Assessment for English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science across grades 3-5. In 2023-2024, Lovin's 5th-grade students outperformed the state and county averages in all subject areas, with 56.7% proficient or better in ELA, 38.8% in Math, and 56.4% in Science. The school's performance has been relatively stable over the past few years, with its statewide ranking ranging from 367 to 538 out of around 1,200-1,250 Georgia elementary schools. Lovin Elementary also has a lower student-teacher ratio compared to the nearby schools, with a ratio of 12.4 in 2022-2023, indicating a more favorable learning environment. However, the school has a higher percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch (63.05% in 2022-2023) compared to the state and county averages, suggesting a higher proportion of economically disadvantaged students.

While Lovin Elementary generally outperforms the nearby schools in academic performance, some nearby schools, such as Trip Elementary and Grayson Elementary, have significantly higher academic achievement, ranking in the top 20% of Georgia elementary schools. These high-performing schools serve a lower percentage of economically disadvantaged students, suggesting that socioeconomic factors may play a role in academic outcomes. Additionally, Lovin Elementary's spending per student has increased from $8,705 in 2016-2017 to $9,903 in 2018-2019, indicating a commitment to investing in the school's resources and infrastructure. However, the school could benefit from further analysis and targeted interventions to address any disparities in performance and ensure that all students have the resources and support they need to succeed.

Open Quote At the beginning of the school year we loved it here. It was a fantastic school & each of my kids were truly learning. However, I think this school is way too focused on "instruction" & the administration needs to realize that these are still children. Telling children at the age of 7,8,9,10 that they are too old for fun activities such as holiday celebrations like Halloween, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day or still enjoying make believe, playing pretend, or being silly. I have heard multiple parents complain that their children are being forced to grow up too soon here. My children think they are too old for these fun activities & were devastated when they were told these things. I am a strict parent who believes in good education & keeping kids on a good schedule. My children make great grades, but they are still KIDS & still need to have fun growing up. It would be awesome & wonderful if they could lighten up a little. They have a great staff. They must have forgotten what it was like when they grew up & had all the fun in their classrooms. We will be looking into other schools that still have the fun in their hallways, classrooms, and practice both instruction & fun time. Education should be fun and not feel like a prison. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
