The school is part of the Gwinnett County School District, which is ranked 65th out of 203 districts in Georgia and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Brookwood Elementary has consistently outperformed the Gwinnett County and Georgia state averages in the Milestones Assessment for English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science across all grade levels. For example, in the 2023-2024 school year, 65.5% of 3rd graders, 60.2% of 4th graders, and 74.1% of 5th graders at Brookwood Elementary were proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to 42.1%, 42.3%, and 53.4% in Gwinnett County, and 38.4%, 37%, and 48.2% in Georgia, respectively. Brookwood Elementary has also maintained a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger for the past 10 school years, indicating sustained excellence in academic achievement.

While Brookwood Elementary consistently outperforms the district and state, some nearby schools in the Gwinnett County district, such as Craig Elementary and Gwin Oaks Elementary, also demonstrate exceptional academic performance, ranking in the top 10% of Georgia elementary schools. However, Brookwood Elementary has a relatively low percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, suggesting that its high academic performance may be influenced by the socioeconomic factors of its student population.

Open Quote The method set to send children as young as Kindergarten to the front office under the guise of poor behavior for not completing a class assignment places a stigma in the child's mind that they are a bad child. This happens on a daily basis. Missing additional class instruction is the outcome. This is not helpful to educating a child. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
