Renaissance Elementary School

Summary:

Renaissance Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Fairburn, Georgia, serving grades PK-5 with a total enrollment of 601 students. The school is part of the Fulton County School District, which is ranked 57th out of 203 districts in Georgia and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Despite being part of the Fulton County district, Renaissance Elementary School has consistently underperformed compared to the district and state averages in academic assessments, with proficiency rates often 10-20 percentage points lower than the surrounding schools. The school's ranking and rating have remained low over the past 10 years, with no significant improvement observed, indicating that it may be facing persistent challenges in improving student outcomes. Additionally, the school has a 100% free and reduced lunch rate, suggesting a high-poverty student population, which may contribute to the academic challenges.

Interestingly, when comparing Renaissance Elementary School to nearby schools within the same Fulton County district, such as Stonewall Tell Elementary and E.C. West Elementary, the academic performance and school ratings vary significantly, with the nearby schools often having much higher proficiency rates and better school rankings.

Open Quote My daughter attended Kindergarten at Renaissance. The administration and faculty are very organized! This really helped my family transition into a "big kids" school. We looked at several private schools in the area and to our surprise, we were most impressed with Renaissance. Independence and accountability is emphasized and expected from all students from DAY ONE! I am very impressed with this organization!

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
