Open Quote If your kid has an IEP, they are screwed. All Sharon ES cares about is how it looks on paper...and let’s face it, special needs students don’t bring in the hugh test scores that wins shallow accolades (Blue Ribbon Schools). Aloof administration, hamstrung teachers, and entitled kids doesn’t help their image either. Close Quote

Open Quote We love Sharon Elementary. I have 2 children there and both have had wonderful, caring teachers. They challenge the kids, but do not overdo it. There are great after school programs for working parents. Close Quote

Open Quote My wife and I have been thoroughly impressed by the quality of the teachers and the learning environment at Sharon. Our third child is starting kindergarten there this year, and our other two have thrived there. On top of the fact that they are doing very well, they love going to school. Close Quote

Open Quote My son is in kindergarten and we are very pleased so far. From the round-up before school starts where the kids ride the bus with their mothers to walk thru getting to school, to the parent/teacher interaction (daily emails from our teacher and principal) and the overall happiness of my son allows me to give Sharon a top grade. The home work is very minimal (if at all) as the teacher wants the kids to be kids when they get home for a proper balance. Also, the teacher regularly solicits parent involvement for the classroom and the principal really supports school pride so the kids are really excited about going to Sharon. Great school... Open Quote I have had children at Sharon for the last 8 years. It is a wonderful school that is very parent involved. The parents raised money and resources to build a beautiful science-interactive courtyard called the DIGS. They have curriculum to go along with this science outdoor classroom. They also built a new science lab for the school and run school-wide labs.
Aside from the parental involvement, the teachers are wonderful! I really feel blessed my children are at Sharon. I volunteer in the classrooms and get to see the teachers first-hand. It is a very caring environment, everyone from the principal to the teachers to the speech pathologists, and EIP teachers. My older child was very equipped for middle school.
I highly recommend Sharon Elementary and the wonderful area we live in. Close Quote

Open Quote Overhyped high pressure school. Poor kindergarten kids are doing zombie rote worksheets instead of age appropriate learning and play. After a year in this school my child had constant headaches from the intense academic pressure. If you want a kid who is a high scoring zombie robot send him to this school. It was like a breath of fresh air to move out of this pressure cooker hell hole and into a child supportive school in Gwinnett county. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
