Open Quote I'm glad to see others ranked globe with more stars and better reviews. I'm afraid our experience at globe was not as fruitful. We ended up moving and enrolling in a new school, and we quickly found out that our child was way behind in math and English. we knew that would have been a possibility because of this immersion model. We were only at globe for a year, but, we quickly determined that this model was not for us. We had a difficult time with one of our teachers. There were a number of time she rubbed me the wrong way. For example, when I showed up to be a Mystery reader at my assigned time, she greeted me with "I didn't expect you today" also, she actually laughed at my child when he cried as I left the school. Who does that? I did report her to the Admin, but I never got an apology or an acknowledgement. That sort of seal the deal that we were moving to a new school. Lastly, I felt that she was very curt during our last parent teacher conference, and was very negative. In fact, I've never heard anything positive come from this particular teacher, which I think reflects poorly on the school. I was pretty offended by this, so I spoke with other parents about this, and they all had a similar experience with this particular teacher. Unfortunately, our experience was more negative than positive, and I can only give Globe 2 stars. I understand experiencing both good and bad teachers is called life, and we have to deal with for the next twelve years, but its unfortunate to start off Kindergarten in a new school like this. We are much happier in our new school, and my child is doing extremely well. Maybe our experience is isolated, but I hope this review helps others. I agree with the other parent review This Model is not for everyone. Close Quote

Open Quote Love Globe! My son was in the French Track for Kindergarten and we are going back this year! I highly recommend The Globe Academy because of the great community and support between the Faculty, Parents, and Students. I love the diversity of the schooll as well! There are many of us who drive in to go there. Carpooling is made available through a website who matches you with others nearby, which makes it doable. My son's pronunciation of French is impressive for just one year of French. There are so many activities from the International Festival to Spirit nights, Performances, class visits (where the kids show you their work on a project in small groups) and Fundraising events. The end of the year performance was top knotch! Way to go Globe! Keep on being Great!!! Close Quote

Open Quote GLOBE is very much a community school, (big emphasis on Community) the parents and teachers are true partners. Essentially, you have three tracks (Three schools within a school) Mandarin, French & Spanish. this makes the school feel very small and tight knit. It seems that the Mandarin students are the superstars of GLOBE (Mandarin Parents seem to be very impressed) and Spanish and French are Good to Very Good. We are in French- and I would say its Very Good. The curriculum seems to be evolving, as GLOBE is a new school and I think they're trying to figure out what works, and what doesn't. It can be a little frustrating, but we know this school is new, and these things are expected. My son is speaking french, and he's doing some really cool things at school. The connections are fantastic. Specially, Art and Music. I had higher hopes for Science, but, I understand they are trying to expand that department. Communications, Teacher's BLOGS, and newsletters could be little better, ok, A LOT better unless it has to do with fundraising. The fundraising efforts are nothing short of relentless. I understand this is common with Charter schools, but, for those who might be a little strapped for cash (like myself) this is your warning. Even if you've donated $500 (like myself), it's still not enough. That is probably my biggest issue with the school. It's an interesting curriculum, and you'll either love it or not. This school is not for everyone and not for all learning styles. There are kids who struggle, and there are kids who do amazing things. The social element is absolutely fantastic, the parents are dedicated and involved. Close Quote

Open Quote My twins are in Kindergarten this year (2015-2016 school year) and we love it there! The teachers and administrators are caring and helpful. The families are involved and have a real sense of community. My twins are doing a great job learning Spanish as well as learning all the regular things Kindergartners learn (e.g., how to read!). We are very happy at GLOBE. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
