Open Quote Wow, I can't believe there isn't an updated review for Pine Ridge Elementary! This school is in a great neighborhood but it is lacking support from its parents, community, and teachers. My son attended Pine Ridge for the 2011-2012 school year, kindergarten, and I was highly disappointed with the slow pace of the curriculum, it's delivery, and it's focal points. Now my judgement may be a bit harsh because my son was transferred from a private school. But I was actively involved in all school activities and class activities. I spoke with my son's teacher, her aid, and an officer of the PTA about the current status of the school. Collectively, they all suggested that the school is declining because of the new type of disinterested students coupled with discouraging parents. The proof is definitely in the pudding because elite parents are starting to withdraw their students to transfer them to the neighboring CHOICE school, Wynbrooke Elementary. However, if you compare Wynbrooke's CRCT test scores to Pine Ridge's there isn't a significant difference. Wynbrooke Elementary edges Pine Ridge slighlty +/- 3 to 4 percentage points. I recommend private or work closely with teacher at P.R. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
