Open Quote We have had the best experience at BVE. My son started in kindergarten and is just finishing up 2nd grade with Ms. Lakus. One thing that really makes BVE stand out is its Montessori program. The students learn independence and decision making through hands-on learning. Also, with the mixed-age classrooms, the students learn wonderful leadership skills as they become the "leaders" in the classroom. This also lends well to challenging the students by allowing them to move ahead in lessons or even move to lessons from a higher grade level, if they are ready.

The families are wonderful. The school really has a great community feel. I can feel it any time I walk into the school or at any school event.

I would absolutely recommend Briar Vista Elementary to anyone. Close Quote

Open Quote Have nothing but great things to say about this little hidden gem. Most parent do not realize but its one of the total 5 public Montessori schools in GA, one of 3 in and around Atlanta. One of the best things about this school is the new principle who's on her second year and has improved upon almost every aspect of the school, starting from parent interaction with school to getting more help for the teachers in the classroom. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
