Ford Elementary School

Summary:

Ford Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Acworth, Georgia, serving grades PK-5 with a total enrollment of 757 students. The school is part of the Cobb County School District, which is ranked 52 out of 203 districts in Georgia and is rated 4 stars out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

Ford Elementary School consistently outperforms the Cobb County and Georgia state averages in the Milestones Assessment for English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. For example, in the 2023-2024 school year, 69.9% of 5th-grade students at Ford Elementary were proficient or better in ELA, compared to 57.9% in Cobb County and 48.2% statewide. The school has a strong track record of high rankings among Georgia elementary schools, consistently placing in the top 15% over the past decade, and it maintains a relatively low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 12.8 to 13.3 students per teacher over the past three school years, which is lower than the Cobb County average.

When compared to the nearby schools in the Cobb County district, Ford Elementary generally outperforms its peers on academic measures, with higher proficiency rates in ELA, Math, and Science. However, the school serves a more affluent student population, with a relatively low percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients, ranging from 7.8% to 8.32% over the past three years, significantly lower than the state average. While Ford Elementary is a high-performing school, there may be opportunities to further improve student outcomes, particularly in areas where the school's performance, while strong, is not as dominant compared to the district and state.

Open Quote Let’s put some accurate information out on the internet-teacher to student ratio isn’t 13:1 it is more like 28 to 1. The administration is a legit joke who only cares about their STEM qualification and school scores. If you read reviews it is only good ones whose children are in Target which is the “advance” class. If you dig deeper you will see there is nothing regarding kids with special disabilities etc. The school has many issues and I hope my mistake of learning the hard way and my child suffering will stop someone else from attending this dreadful place. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
