Open Quote My oldest daughter went all the way through Daniell and had a wonderful experience. My second daughter has just started there. We love principal Nelson and all the teachers. I don't understand why people talk so badly of this school. The issues of drugs, violence and harassment are going on at EVERY middle school, it's MIDDLE SCHOOL and middle school stinks no matter where you go. I highly encourage you to form your own opinions of the school and don't always take the word of others, Mine included. Everyone's experinace will be differnat. Close Quote

Open Quote It's tragic but I have had nothing but bad experiences with this school. My daughter just started going in August. It is now October and my daughter has been slapped by a male student, harassed by another male student, and is being bullied by a group of girls. My child is now under psychiatric evaluation to determine if she can/should be placed at another school. I, however, believe it is clear that she does. I would never recommend this school to anyone.!!! The staff and the police officer don't care. They seem to have bigger issues to deal with at the school. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU AVOID THIS SCHOOL OF YOU LOVE YOUR CHILDREN. Close Quote

Open Quote I recently graduated from Daniell, and I'm going to start off by saying that this school is very ghetto. You can't attend here and not get offered drugs, get bullied, get your butt smacked, and not see a fight whether it is a stunned and a student, or a teacher and a student. Everywhere you go, you hear the N word being called out like it is no big deal. As an Advanced Placement student, I was able to separate myself from the "bad" crowd. If your child is a rising 6th grader and is going to attend here I URGE you to try and change their school from JJ to any other middle school in Cobb county. I have spoken to friends from other schools and none of them have ever seen a fight in the hallway, been harassed, heard their teacher getting cursed out, heard the N word, or gotten offered drugs. Open Quote This school is drug infested and the kids run the school, not the adults. My Daughter is a current student there and has been a victim of violence, and bullying for 2 years, by the same group of kids, and nothing is being done. I've met with administrators and police, and they both just keep passing the blame back and fourth. The Assistant Principal is very rude and not compassionate for my child at all. And my child has always had excellent grades and contuct. Don't send your kids to this school if you can help it! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
