Open Quote Unbelievable! The school appears to be very friendly but wait until you are able to see and hear what goes on behind closed doors. Ms. Burroughs tries her best to keep parents out of school. The stories my two children came home to tell me, I could not believe. Directly from my child "Morrow Elementary is boring and gives us too much work. I know school is about learning. The teachers are really mean" My child lost her passion to learn. She begs me not to go to school. The homework provided does not give a good guide for parents to know what is expected of them in class. Graded papers sent home are not coinciding with homework. Every time I had to visit the school. I have always caught a teacher yelling at the students. My daughter often complains that a lot of class time is spent on I-Ready (computer work) instead of the teacher actually teaching. She tells me how her teachersp ends a lot of time socializing with other teachers instead of being in the classroom. When I tried to address these concerns I'm always given an excuse. I really dislike this school. I do not feel my child is learning. Close Quote

Open Quote I had a horrible experience with the communication with my child's teacher her 3rd grade year. I never felt out of the loop with my child's education. Maybe I just got a bad teacher. My child needed extra help in Reading and I learned that the teacher that provides the extra helps yells at students and is very condescending. They are more concerned with scores at this school so they push the kids really fast and anyone that may need extra help will get left on the wayside. Administration is no help with concerns brought to their attention because they are more concerned of the overall score and not the actual individual child's well doing. Bullying at this school is a huge problem as well. It's often ignored and parents are not keep informed of incidents that happens at this school or bus. The outward appearance seems great but if you actually get inside the classroom which they do a good job keeping parents out you will clearly see all the issues with the school. It's not so great. Open Quote My grandson has attended since pre-k. He has always struggled with math and reading but the staff and teachers have worked with him to help him achieve his goals. He is now in 4th grade and has tested out of the EIP program and has mad great strides in his math and reading this year. We love the teachers and staff at Morrow Elementary. Looking forward to 5th grade. Close Quote

Open Quote Let me begin by saying that I had read unfavorable reviews about this school, specifically their scores on this and one other website. I was very concerned that my children were to attend this school. HOWEVER, I have found the staff to be warm and very approachable. Everyone seems to really care about the students there. They have won the school of excellence distinction for several years running. The parent liaison Mr. Keel is wonderful. The counselor Mrs. Logan is also very good. My child has had an excellent kindergarten experience in Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Hall's class. At the end of December he was reading at almost a 2nd grade level. Not all the teachers are perfect. There are always a few bad apples anywhere you go. But overall I have been quite pleased with Morrow Elementary. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
