Boston Elementary School

Summary:

Boston Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Woodstock, Georgia, serving grades PK-5 with a total enrollment of 633 students. The school is part of the Cherokee County School District, which is ranked 28th out of 203 districts in Georgia and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Boston Elementary School has consistently ranked in the top 25% of Georgia elementary schools, with strong academic performance on the Milestones Assessment. In 2023-2024, the school's proficiency rates in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science were higher than the state averages. Compared to nearby schools, Boston Elementary's academic performance is generally stronger, with higher proficiency rates than Allatoona Elementary School and lower-performing schools in the region. However, Sixes Elementary School and Bascomb Elementary School within the Cherokee County School District have particularly strong academic performance, outperforming Boston Elementary in several areas.

Boston Elementary School's relatively low percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients and its student-teacher ratio of around 14 students per teacher suggest a relatively stable and well-resourced learning environment. While the school's academic performance is strong overall, there may be opportunities to further improve its performance, especially in areas where it lags behind the top-performing schools in the region.

Open Quote My children are in First and Third grade this year and Boston is a FABULOUS school! Every time I am at the school to have lunch with my kids or help out with a PTA function, I always feel like I am among extended family. Our Music teacher is Fantastic she has her doctorate in Fine Arts and the principal is very present in the school. She is always out and about and probably knows the names of all 600+ children!

This is a great area to live and have your children go to school!

Regards,

Chris Bresnan Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
