Open Quote If you like having your kids get bullied with no support from administrators, then this is the school for you. I only experienced the lower school, but it was atrocious. Close Quote

Open Quote Great concept but horrible management. Lots of teachers and staff keep leaving which is sad... Lots of false promises... Class sizes are not as small as we were told. Personalized learning is non existent. Projects based learning are a joke. Do your research before you send your kids here because although it sounds great it is definitely not!! Close Quote

Open Quote Mixed experiences here. It depends on what teacher your child gets (a lot of teachers filter in and out). If your child does not need anything and does fine on their own (can teach themselves, no social or emotional needs) then your child is just what this school is looking for. If you love doing fundraising, and need to pay to promote your business you will also find many opportunities to do that at this school. If you are seeking something different, perhaps look for another school. Close Quote

Open Quote I would not recommend this school because BIA does not care about its students and, as such, its discipline actions are very bad. When I was in 7th grade in BIA the whole of 6th to 8th grade was punished by getting no recess for us students laughing. What had happened was there were these two kids that were popping plastic bags in the cafeteria during lunch. The teachers told us to stop laughing, assuming that it wasn't funny (it was like a stand-up comedian saying to his/her audience "Stop laughing"). The teachers punished the whole middle school for laughing. They took our recess away, which is darn wrong because that's most of the students' only way of exercise everyday. Furthermore, some kids weren't even at the cafeteria and were still punished (they were part of the Student Council and were in a meeting elsewhere during lunch). Oh, and by the way, us students only get PE once every three weeks! We need our exercise, but the school doesn't even care, as long as it's convenient for their schedule. Please do not send your kids to BIA, for the sake of the students. Thank you. Close Quote

Open Quote BIA is getting better all the time. We love it, and our daughter loves it, and the other daughter will start next year. The new campus just opened this year and is great! The teachers are awesome, the students are great, and the the new facilities are super. It's getting better all the time and we're excited for all the changes taking place! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
