Inspire Learning Academy

If I could this school zero Stars I would.In my opinion ,after the experience that my son and I had with this school, I 100 would "NOT" recommend this school. The director/owner of the school is the only one who has a teaching license. None of the other teachers and so-called paraprofessionals have any licensing or certification. They do reading and language Arts with a virtual teacher and they use YouTube videos to teach the students math for the GO Math curriculum which is outdated. There language arts books are 7 years old and have been outdated by Seminole County as well as GO math. When my son started at this school, I was told his IEP would be followed, however I received an email stating that they do not do IEP's or follow them at this school, even though that's listed as one of the requirements to get into the school on their website. The children are not monitored properly and the director makes the parents sign documents stating there can only be communication with the teachers and herself via email or through an app but if you communicate through those methods the director considers them harassing. There is a huge communication problem between parents and staff. If your child has any difficulties for example bullying or being assaulted, it gets brushed under the rug. My son was assaulted at that school more than once and every time the director chose to turn it around and blame my child who has never been in trouble and his entire academic history and is not aggressive at all. Instead the director chose to call my son and I liars.My son was choked, hit, smacked in the back of his head where he had a brain concussion and the director collected her tuition money from my son's scholarship but forbid him to come to school until his concussion was fully healed ,instead of punishing the child that hit him. The child that hit him when he had a concussion ended up getting student of the month but not disciplined for hitting my son. The last straw for me was my son getting harassed by 2 students who are notorious for behavior issues and picking on the other which other kids stated in their own words words outside of school to my child (I have an app so I can read all of my child's text messages). Instead of disciplining those children the director tried to punish my child for defending himself and he didn't even cause any harm to the other kids. I pulled him out NOT for the reasons the director stated on withdrawal form , but because I was in great fear of his safety in that school because they weren't protecting him and could not give me an answer as to how they would protect him in the future . The director is very combative, argumentative and disorganized, and chooses not to address situations that involve the safety of her students. The director is not honest with the parents and in my opinion truly doesn't care about the students only about the money. She refused to bill the scholarships for material fees and had the parents pay $100 to her personal PayPal account which is listed as her old school that no longer exists. The school has roaches, the bathrooms are unsanitary. I would not send my worst enemy to this school. I have interviewed 27 FES-UA scholarship schools in the past two weeks and many of them knew all about what goes on at this school regarding the behavior, the outdated curriculum and the directors behavior and they did not have good things to say. It was a big eye opener for me but comforting at the same time knowing I made the right choice and protected my son by withdrawing him from inspire Learning Academy.
