Academically, the school consistently outperforms the Lee County and Florida state averages on key assessments, including End-of-Course exams, Statewide Science assessments, and the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) in English Language Arts and Math. Open Quote There are many wonderful, talented teachers there. I also see them pulled in many directions and they are overworked. For such a large school, they should have more administrators. I don't know what is going on with the discipline structure. Something is lacking. My children tell me stories that concern me enough that I am looking into pulling them out. The school is not in the safest of neighborhoods, so I don't know why there aren't more safety precautions taken. This school has always had a very good reputation, but it is going downhill. It is supposed to be a school for the arts, so I expected this to be a focus there. I haven't seen very much. Other schools are in the news more for doing art, music, and dance related activities. Why is this lacking here? I hope things turn around soon. Close Quote

Open Quote The school use to be amazing. The principal is horrible, does not work with the parents at all. He is very cold to the children as well as parents. Feels more like a prison than a school! Can not wait to get my kids out of this school. Has a very high teacher turn over (very seldom is last years teacher there the following year). Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
