Open Quote PASSION TO HELP EACH AND EVERY STUDENT SUCCEED IN LIFE...In addition to the the terrific teachers and staff.....parental involvement, volunteers and mentor's make themselves known and readily available to assist and guide the students. There are a number of after school programs available for students that are geared to assist the students in their academic achievement and what it is, that is unique for each individual. To assist and help guide them and think about not only what college undergraduate programs are suitable and available early on but to encourage them ...there is but one option and that is getting them prepared for the job market whether it is Trade school or college and help all students prepare themselves. Open Quote Great school! It really is the total package when it comes to High Schools; outstanding academics, athletics, student clubs and associations. The faculty is accessible and eager to partner with parents to ensure the young adults graduating from this school have every opportunity. Additionally, the faculty pushes students to excel at Plant, when they talk about strength of schedule here they mean the students class schedule not the football team's, although they play state champion level football too. When we moved to Tampa I looked for a house in this school's district. I feel it is the best decision I have ever made for my two children, both currently enrolled at Plant. If you are looking for a school in Tampa and have not looked at H.B. Plant High School you are missing something. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
