Egypt Lake Elementary faces significant challenges, including a student population that is 73.89% Hispanic, much higher than nearby schools like Seminole Elementary and Walton Academy. Egypt Lake Elementary's challenges are compounded by its high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 72.96% to 93.38% over the past few years. While the school's per-student spending is comparable to nearby schools, its declining statewide ranking, from 942 out of 2,247 Florida elementary schools in 2020-2021 to 2,029 out of 2,256 in 2023-2024, suggests the need for targeted interventions and support to improve student outcomes.

Open Quote both my kids attended Egypt lake and both are very successful individuals, this was where the ground work was laid coupled with their parent at home training. I credit this school for its discipline and concrete measures when educating my kids. They were destined to do good! Close Quote

Open Quote Its not so much the school itself, its the environment! HORRIBLE! The parents are rude, no manners what so ever, and the children follow in their footsteps. The parents are not teaching their children to keep their hands to themselves, proper English, or manners. I am in the process of pulling my son out of this school because of this. The teachers spend more time trying to translate or discipline then actually teaching. I'm pretty sure English is the language we speak in this country, unfortunately most of the parents can not speak it themselves. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
