Open Quote Overall Park Trails is a pretty good school but there may be some issues with diversity. My child, who is a minority, had a teacher who bullied him and basically allowed other children in her class to bully him as well. My child
was assaulted by two children before class and they tried to blame and isolate my child. My child had no other problems after we had him moved to another classroom with a better, caring teacher. His old teacher was very vindictive and even harassed me after we had our son moved from her class. Close Quote

Open Quote We had a terrible experience at this school, ended up sending child elsewhere. Our experience was limited, but from what we saw the teacher was awful and not a nice person, she also didn't teach the class and relied heavily on computer programs to educate the children. Drop off and pick up procedures are horrible. When there is a storm at time of pick up it turns into a chaotic and traumatic experience when it really doesn't have to. It's Florida- storms are a part of life here! Principal is friendly and nice, but the front office staff need an attitude adjustment. The food they serve for lunch is something I wouldn't even feed my dog. Lots of improvement needed. Close Quote

Open Quote If your child is any race other than white then do not go to this school. Being a minority child here is very alienating as we experienced. The kids are not welcoming to different cultures because the homes they come from are not welcoming. There is a reason Park Trails is 98 white, the Parkland parents want it that way. Take your child anywhere else but here. My child's teacher had my daughter acting nervous and not wanting to attend school. It s way over crowded and your child will be lost in it all. Close Quote

Open Quote Teachers we've had so far have not been involved with children. This year's still doesn't know our child's name on day 3.
Parents are mostly from Parkland, so are rude snobs.
No parking lot makes pick ups and drop offs painful.
Administration is friendly and helpful. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
