Open Quote The schools is great, but the adage, "a few bad apples will spoil an entire bunch" applies to this school. Most of the teachers, and staff are great--great Principal, but a few teachers do every now and then act like loose canons and as a parent, that can be shocking and worrisome!

Unfortunately, I have experienced one too many instances of this; a recent example--my kindergartner was in a great program organized for the schools by the county--the swim safety program. As a concerned and enthusiastic parent, I volunteered and also watched my son learn. On the first day, as he was being instructed many other volunteering parents watched like myself. Yet a teacher from another section of kindergarten -- who doesn't know me -- comments "Are you contemplating his" (the young instructor's) "belly-button?" I am disgusted and horrified for two reasons: one, a teacher who is a role-model for her students and all around her would conduct herself so unprofessionally and recklessly; two, how can a teacher find the nerve to harass a parent who is volunteering and trying to help?

I hope the school can offer some courses in "Conducting Oneself Professionally" for its teachers, so that other parents don't face this and the focus remains on all the Good Work this school does on so many levels. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
