Summary:

Hollywood Park Elementary School is a public elementary school in Hollywood, Florida, serving 407 students in grades PK-5 and part of the Broward County School District, which is ranked 30th out of 68 districts in Florida.

Hollywood Park Elementary School stands out for its high percentage of Hispanic students (64.62%), significantly higher than nearby schools. The school also faces challenges, including a chronic absenteeism rate ranging from 29.6% to 40.3%, notably higher than the 13.3% to 36.4% range of nearby schools. Academically, the school's test scores are generally lower than the Broward County and Florida state averages, with 5th-grade science proficiency at 59% compared to 52% for the county and 53% for the state. While Hollywood Park Elementary School has a relatively high spending per student, ranging from $12,172 to $15,793, the school's performance has not kept pace with other schools in the state, with its statewide ranking declining from 920 out of 2,182 Florida elementary schools in 2018-2019 to 685 out of 2,256 in 2023-2024. Nearby charter schools, such as Charter School Of Excellence At Davie and Championship Academy Of Distinction At Davie, generally have higher test scores and lower chronic absenteeism rates, suggesting that targeted interventions and community engagement could be areas for Hollywood Park Elementary School to focus on for improvement.

Open Quote My son loves this school. He has improved a lot since he started attending this school. The principal is very attentive to her students. The teachers push their kids to do better and because of this, the children respond well. I have had my son in a different school, and it was nothing like Hollywood Park. I am proud that he is going to Middle School next year, but I am sad that he will no longer be part of the Hollywood Park family. Thanks everyone for a wonderful year! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
