Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS

Summary:

Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS is an exceptional elementary public charter school in Washington, DC, serving 518 students in grades PK-8. This highly-ranked school consistently outperforms the district and state averages on standardized tests, with 58% of 3rd graders proficient in English Language Arts compared to the district's 28.2%. Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS also stands out for its diverse student population, with a mix of White (36.87%), African American (43.82%), Hispanic (8.3%), and Asian (2.9%) students.

One of the school's key strengths is its effective special education program, ranking 1st out of 9 DC elementary schools in this area. Additionally, Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS has a relatively low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 12 to 14 students per teacher, allowing for more individualized attention. When compared to nearby schools like Harmony DC PCS - School of Excellence and Noyes Elementary School, Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS significantly outperforms them in academic achievement.

However, the school's performance is not without some areas for improvement. While Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS ranks highly for its African American students, it ranks lower for its White student population, suggesting the need to address any disparities. Additionally, the school's "at-risk" student population, which includes factors like homelessness and foster care, ranks 59th out of 91 DC elementary schools, indicating these students may require additional support. Overall, Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS is a standout school in the DC area, providing a high-quality education for its diverse student body, but with room for continued growth and improvement.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote We started this school in 2017-2018 school year and my daughter is thriving! ITDS is more academically rigorous than her previous school, but her current teachers are very supportive and encouraging and are a great fit for her and us we love Ms. Ghanta! Besides the usual extra-curricular activities (yoga, geo-plunge, tennis, basketball, dance, soccer, coding chess and a couple others), they have things like book club before school which fits my schedule perfectly. We miss her previous school very much (especially the administrative staff and teachers), but this seems to challenge her more and be a better fit socially. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
