Webster Hill School is an elementary school in West Hartford, Connecticut, serving 338 students in grades PK-5. It is part of the West Hartford School District, which is ranked 48 out of 158 districts in the state and has a 4-star rating.

Webster Hill School consistently outperforms the district and state in academic performance, with 75% of 3rd graders, 81.3% of 4th graders, and 79.6% of 5th graders proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to the district scores of 67.2%, 67.4%, and 68.2%, respectively. Additionally, Webster Hill has a higher percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch (46.75%) compared to nearby schools like Braeburn School (14.74%) and Morley School (15.05%), and a relatively low student-teacher ratio ranging from 10.4 to 11.4 over the past three school years.

While Webster Hill School outperforms the district and state averages, some nearby schools, such as Whiting Lane School and Breakthrough Magnet School South, also demonstrate strong academic performance and are ranked highly within the state. However, Webster Hill's mathematics proficiency rates, particularly in 5th grade, have been slightly lower than its English Language Arts proficiency rates in recent years, which could be an area for the school to focus on for further improvement.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Web Hill has been fabulous for my two children. Both my spouse and I have post college education and are very involved with our kids and their school. We love Web Hill and so many of the teachers. Our children are very different from one another, and Web Hill has met each of them "where they are". Great place! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
