Open Quote The academic program at Mullen is excellent. I come from a public school background and my sister went to a well regarded public high school, and in comparison I can assure that my education is a few notches above the standard. School was never challenging for me in the past, I cannot say the same about Mullen.

The Catholic identity is strong but not overbearing, Mullen has had a reputation as not a seriously Catholic school, but as a student I completely disagree. The theology teachers are very good and the curriculum is appropriate. There are currently 4 former Mullen students in seminary, which I think is a great testament to the school. All this said, the environment is not hostile to non-Catholics at all.

I am very happy with my experience at Mullen, despite some of the difficulties and changes in staff. Close Quote

Open Quote Worth the investment. Keeps the students focused on academics and community service and keeps the distracting elements to a minimum Close Quote

Open Quote This is not a Catholic high school - this is a private high school with a Catholic history. The academic curriculum is more concerned about adhering to worldly standards than it is with developing its students morally, spiritually, and intellectually while adhering to Catholic principles of excellence. We just pulled our straight-A, scholarship recipient, freshman student out after completing the first trimester after she was assigned reading material loaded with profanity, sexual content, racism, violence, and anti-Catholicism in her English Honors class that was condoned all the way up through the principal. We were told that if we objected to the R-rated "literature" assigned in this and future classes that we were expecting "special treatment." If you value your children's faith development, find another school. This school can say that they are 100% faithful to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church on their website, but they don't let it influence their curriculum outside of the Theology department. About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
