The school has a predominantly Hispanic student population (70.18%), with a high percentage (over 85%) of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, indicating a high level of economic disadvantage.

Northglenn Middle School consistently underperforms compared to district and state averages on standardized assessments. Northglenn Middle School's performance has declined over the past several years, suggesting that the school is struggling to improve student outcomes.

Northglenn Middle School's academic struggles appear to be particularly pronounced for its diverse student population. The school's rankings for Hispanic, White, and low socioeconomic status students are all in the bottom quartile of Colorado middle schools, indicating significant achievement gaps. This is in contrast to nearby schools like Rocky Top Middle School and Westlake Middle School, which have much higher proficiency rates in ELA and Math, as well as higher statewide rankings. The challenges faced by Northglenn Middle School in serving its diverse and economically disadvantaged student population suggest that the school may be struggling with staffing, resources, and support for its students and teachers.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I would not recommend this school for students who are above grade level. The students' academic levels and behavior brings down those who want to learn. Many students still struggle with their multiplication table. Teachers do not feel valued or free to reach the needs of all students. The climate is "throw your teammate under the bus" rather than "let me show you how great I am" attitude. As a result, students suffer academically. Choose a school that you feel confident that their needs will be met. Close Quote

Open Quote The 2015 - 2016 school year has seen a huge improvement in the school and the attitudes of the teachers and students. The increase in staff, the new administration, and the addition of 4 new classrooms are already making a difference! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
