Open Quote Terrible terrible school. Both my children are bullied and there's no repercussions for the bullies, students get into backpacks and steal with zero follow up from the administrators, the gym teacher watched my daughter get bullied and ignored her when she sought his help. The gym teacher lets the students listen to uncensored hip hop music with the n word repeated constantly as well as other cuss words. The same gym teacher also makes racist comments in class. I've spoken with the superintendent and gave them a 4.5 page report of all incidences from the beginning of the school year (August 2017)..... nothing has been done. The gym teacher was not disciplined for ignoring the bullying. The principal wouldn't respond to a single email I sent, didn't even talk with my daughter about the bullying that occurred. A teacher also made my son give a "trouble student" her reflection form (she was in trouble), and because of that, the girl calls him offensive names, including racist ones. Their solution was to move their seats away from each other. Two students even overdosed in the bathroom when they were supposed to be in class. I had 2 very confused and scared kids.... when I asked why we weren't told, and I didn't even get a response. I wasn't asking for the kids' names or what drug they took and in which bathroom. I just thought an incident involving that, would've warranted a heads up for the parents.

I advocated for this school for years. My kids started in kindergarten here (they're 7th and 8th graders now). I was on the discussion groups that helped shaping APTT for the school. I was also a part of the meetings to get the Playworks donation for the school. I've been a part of the school and the district since 2007. It's really sad how much this school and district has changed.

AVOID THIS SCHOOL!!!! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
