Twin Peaks Charter Academy

Summary:

Twin Peaks Charter Academy is a public charter school in Longmont, Colorado, serving 807 students in grades K-12. The school is part of the St. Vrain Valley School District, which is ranked 33rd out of 116 districts in the state and has a 4-star rating.

Twin Peaks Charter Academy consistently outperforms the district and state in academic assessments, with 65.4% of 11th-grade students proficient or better in CMAS Science, compared to 29.2% for the district and 24.8% for the state. The school also has a relatively low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 13.1 to 16.4 over the past three years, lower than nearby schools and the district average. While the school's student population is predominantly White, it also has significant Hispanic and Asian representation, reflecting the diversity of the local community.

When compared to other nearby charter schools, such as Westgate Community School, Stargate Charter School, and Prospect Ridge Academy, Twin Peaks Charter Academy generally outperforms these schools in academic assessments, particularly in CMAS Science and Math. The school's relatively high free and reduced-price lunch rates, compared to some nearby charter schools, may indicate the presence of socioeconomic challenges that the school community is addressing.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Twin Peaks Charter Academy offers kids K-12 access to a wonderful education and families access to a cooperative community. Through the Core Knowledge and Classical Education programs, students receive a well-rounded education and score high on state and national tests. The faculty and staff are very caring and the Board of Directors works well with the families to achieve goals. The school continually receives state-based awards for academic achievement. I am so glad we chose to send our daughter here. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
